Anuradha Nag is the Founder and artistic director of Tarangini School of Kathak Dance.The school was established in 1992 in the San Jose,Bay Area (www.taranginischoolofkathak.org ).The name was coined by the legendary maestro Pandit Birju Maharaj -ji.
She had her initial training from Nataraj Parimal Krishna and later from veteran gurus - the legendary Padmavibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and his foremost disciple Pandit Vijai Shankar. She advanced her training in Abhinaya for Padmabhushan Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan.
Received the "Sringarmani" award from the Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai. Before moving to the US she was an empanelled artist for the Sangeet Natak Akademi as well as the Indian Council of Cultural Relations.
She had the privilege of working with great gurus and choreographers such as Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, Smt. Kalanidhi Narayanan and Prof. Deitmar Seyffert of Germany.
Anuradha’s dance academy offers the next generation a rare opportunity to learn a traditional Indian art form in a contemporary setting, while nurturing the discipline and presentation skills associated with such a rigorous art.
She is spreading this art form through her teaching beyond the Bay Area to the states of Washington and Ohio. Teaching and creating is her passion.Students at Tarangini also get to take workshops under Pt. Birju Maharaj, Smt. Kumudini Lakhia, Pt. Vijai Shankar and Sapna Saswati Sen..
