Specialties: hindustani vocalist and author of book song of the rainbow
I completed my PhD in Hindustani classical music from the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi. I have been working as an assistant professor for about 2 years in different colleges of University of Delhi and am presently working at Vivekananda College,DU. In addition, I have also been involved in course development for music at NIOS, NOIDA for about 7 years in which I have been involved with various responsibilities such as creating the syllabus, writing of lessons, editing and translation of the lessons etc. in addition to creating a CD of the said course. I have published a book related to the topic of my thesis Depiction of Music through the medium of Paintings in the Indian Tradition and also an article entitled Bhartiya Parampara mein Sangeet ka Murta Roop mein Chitrankan in Sangeet Journal .
I received JRF from UGC for the duration of five years to complete my MPhil and PhD. Later, I received JRF from Ministry of Culture for a post PhD research project entitled A new approach to the pictorial depiction of a selected Raga emphasizing the musical aspect for the duration of two years.
I perform regularly at concerts and Baithaks organized by the ‘Sangeet Sankalp’ music society and have organized Baithaks and concerts at local and national level as Secretary of Delhi Sangeet Sankalp music society for promotion of Hindustani classical music.
I had the opportunity to interact with eminent artists like Prof. Debu Chaudhuri, Prof. Krishna Bisht and Prof. L.K. Pandit at the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts. I received great encouragement from Prof. Krishna Bisht, former Dean and Head of the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, who was also my guide for PhD. Apart from her guidance, I also learnt from Late Dr. Nupur Roy Chaudhary of Agra Gharana and Smt. Madhuri Dandage of Kirana Gharana. Presently learning from Dr. Shanno Khurana of Rampur Gharana.
